April - June 2011

Developed a detailed report on TB situation and 6 month pilot projects

Collaborative meeting took place on 23rd April 2011 for developing a detailed report-road map on how to reach the stated objectives. The core team members from various institutions were present to give their views and support the cause in time to come. It was decided that this collaborative (CETI) will work in closely with the RNTCP program in the district and DTO Indore along with the team would coordinate CETI’s TB awareness initiative among patients and community to reduce the TB deaths.







June - December 2011

  • Conduct four pilot projects 
    1. Using Mobile Technology for TB Drug Adherence : 20 Patient Pilot Project 
    2. Partnership between Private Doctors and Government TB Program: Pilot Programs with 5 Pvt Doctors
    3. Increasing Awareness about TB at School: Pilot Programs for Schools (5 Pvt. and 5 Govt.)
    4. Promotional Activities with Local Media
  • Plan a summit in Indore with key partners, national and international consultants to share the vision 2020- TB free Indore and lessons learned from pilot. Begin to seek funding.

Using Mobile Technology for TB Drug Adherence : 20 Patient Pilot Project 

Objective :
  • To motivate TB Patients to take TB medicines regularly and complete treatment through a free-call minutes incentive and text messages.
  • To involve Mobile companies such as Reliance and Airtel to provide free telephone minutes to selected patients.
  • To develop a strategy to expand program to 200 patients over next year

Partnership between Private Doctors and Goverment TB Program: Pilot Programs with 5 Pvt Doctors

Objective :
  • Develop a relationship with private doctors to follow DOTS & WHO Guidelines.
  • To measure the epidemiology of TB in Indore via google maps.
  • To develop a strategy to expand the program to 25 doctors over next year.

Increasing Awareness about TB at School: Pilot Programs for Schools (5pvt and 5govt)

Objective :
  • To help RNTCP and TB society to spread TB awareness in school going children.
  • Develop relationships with schools and NGOs to take basic TB education to schools.
  • To scale up program to 100 schools by next year.
  • To evaluate if education is having an impact.

Promotional Activities with Local Media

Objective :
  • To help RNTCP and TB society to spread TB awareness in community.
  • Develop relationships with local media (newspaper, TV, radio) with regular educational/informational sessions on health with national and international speakers forum.
